SOUND LEVEL MANAGEMENT AT HARDEEVILLE SPEEDWAY Associated acoustical consultants: Bowlby & Associates Hardeeville Motor Speedway was 3 miles southeast of I-95 (Exit 5 in South Carolina) on Highway 17 or just 10 miles north of Savannah on Highway 17. Carolina Morning News reported that Hardeeville Motor Speedway monitors sound levels to control sound level emission in accordance with agreements with neighbors. The owners, operators, residents and homeowners of the Toomerville Community all want the same thing -- to be good neighbors. "The best thing for us to do is to start communicating and get along," said Beach, who said he has repeatedly offered settlement packages to the residents that have been rebuffed. "We want to get along with them and work things out. But we are also a business, and we built something that we want to use and maintain the best way we can." The Grozier system adds objectivity to otherwise subjective interpretation of noise. This speedway was closed recently under pressures from neighbors and low attendance. ***** Copyright 2009 ***** |
